Creativity for Growth in 2023

3 reasons Why Creativity is important in 2023

  1. Automation/AI is Replacing Routine Work

We all know that anything that can be reproduced by AI or automation is going to be done more than ever in 2023! It’s cheaper, more efficient and easy to do. This places more emphasis and need on creativity as a skill to be honed, developed and encouraged (especially in the workplace). When we are developing ideas that cannot be automated, we have to think outside the box; gain new perspectives and have an open mindset.

  2. Mental Health Benefits of Creativity

Our awareness of the mental health crisis in our world is so evident. We see it all around us: depression, anxiety, hopelessness and suicide. In our previous BLOG we spoke about the mental health benefits of creativity and art making. There is significant evidence of this in so many publications on healthy mindsets! I continue to experience the calm joy that descends on our group after a creative workshop (either individually or with teams).

  3. Empathy

Schools are now talking about this empathy gap amongst children. We can discuss reasons for this another time!

However, what does creativity have to do with empathy? This is an interesting one! It turns out that when we work creatively in a group (whether at work or otherwise), we become more exposed to various ideas, divergent thoughts, diverse cultures and people’s vulnerabilities. In our Art Process Workshops, I have noticed that anxieties about art making are intense! When we see that we are not alone here, it immediately creates a sense of a shared experience.

Being a “talented” or experienced artist is NOT a prerequisite for all the above! Sometimes it’s best not to have any experience. The only requirement is to be open and willing to try something new and in turn reflect on how it affects your personal and professional life.

As a collaborator, Kathy is an extraordinary listener and partner. She is so committed to crafting unique artistic endeavors to realize the vision we were seeking to achieve in our organization.
