This month the focus is on the calming results of drawing on the right side of the brain. If you have a gelli plate, we will learn ways to incorporate the two. We will make gorgeous drawings on and off the gelli plate to use in collage work.

Creating mixed-media art is a forgiving process (so it’s beginner-friendly!) since sections can be covered and reworked. All levels are welcome, and all materials are supplied. Artist and creativity coach Kathy Leader will offer nurturing support—and show you how to free yourself from your inner critic by working mindfully and intuitively. All levels are welcome, no experience required.

In this course, you will create a catalog of techniques for altering papers that you will use to create various types of small compositions. You will be taken step by step through my tried and true process leaving you feeling inspired, confident and ready to jump into larger pieces.

This is the best way to celebrate mother Earth in the hills of Santa Barbara at The Empathy Center. We will start with some nature connection meditation and then move into a beautiful contemplative guided mixed media and collage art process. This way into the creative process is deeply nourishing, inspiring and healing. You do NOT have to have any art experience to gain the benefits. Just a desire to come with you whole self to a like minded community. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Community Environmental Council, SB.

This half day in person mindful mixed media & collage workshop is appropriate for all levels. We will focus on Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain! Based on my solo artshow “Hom/e-age to Earth” in Santa Barbara, I will be introducing some of my techniques viewed in my mixed media & collage work. This will take place in the gallery itself, so you will have access to the pieces live. This is appropriate for all levels.

This one day retreat is in a spectacular location overlooking the whole Santa Barbara bay. We will be doing some guided meditations, journaling and fun mixed media techniques and play.

Learn the fun fabulous art of gelli plate printing in painterly way. New papers are made for use in collages or on their own! No previous experience required. If you have done this technique before, you will learn new ways to use your plate.
